The traditional bobbing for apples dates back to the British invasion of Britain when the conquering army merged their own celebrations with the traditional Celtic festival. The Romans brought with them the apple tree, a representation of the goddess of fruit, Pomona.
On Thursday the 5th of October, we at Wabeno High School bobbed for apples in order to celebrate Homecoming. The students who participated this year were Nevi Lagoo in 7th grade, Mathew Majestic
in 8th grade, Vada Manthey in 9th grade, Riley Godin in 10th grade, Collen Bailey in 11th grade, and Hannah Eernisse in 12th grade. Hannah was the winner of the apple bobbing for the seniors by getting all 11 apples.
